Stand up paddleboarding, known as Hoe he'e nalu is a Hawaiian sport that is an offshoot of surfing. Stand up paddleboarding involves an individual standing upright on a surfboard while paddling through the water. In 2013 it was discovered to be the most popular new outdoor sporting activity based on the number of first-time participants.
