We offer plenty of fantastic tours to the coastal oasis of Las Caletas. Located along the shores of Banderas Bay south of the condominium towers of downtown Puerto Vallarta, Las Caletas is a sprawling jungle compound on the shores of a pristine cove. This luxuriant estate was once the vacation home of award-winning film director, John Huston. Huston, after shooting his popular film adaptation of Tennessee William’s The Night of the Iguana, decided to make Puerto Vallarta his regular vacation destination. The star of his movie, Sir Richard Burton, also decided to vacation here with his wife, Elizabeth Taylor. The attention that the Hollywood glitterati brought to this coastal town helped to spawn a tourism explosion. You can still visit the grounds of Huston’s treasured getaway on one of our Las Caletas excursions.
The main attraction of Las Caletas is a splendid cove which is home to a gorgeous coral reef. This bustling coral garden is excellent for snorkeling, since it begins at a shallow depth of twenty-five feet. The clarity in this protected cove is superb. Scuba divers will also appreciate the excellent visibility in this cove as well as a coral reef that descends to a depth of one hundred feet. Kayakers will also enjoy paddling around the serene waters of Las Caletas. The golden sand of the beach of Las Caletas is a picturesque spot to sunbathe during the day or enjoy a torch-lit dinner in the evening. The spa, which is at the hilltop overlooking the cove, offers visitors a respite from their typical workweek back home. Visitors can also explore the natural marvels of the jungle interior on an exhilarating hike.
