During the wintertime, humpback whales visit the temperate waters near Puerto Vallarta after an extensive journey from the chill northern waters of the Arctic Ocean and the Bering Sea. Like human beings, these whales flock to warmer climes to escape the chill of winter. While in the splendid waters of Banderas Bay, humpbacks perform courtship rituals, breed, give birth, and nurse their calves. Humpback whales have the reputation for being the most gregarious whale species at the surface of the water. Humpbacks are known to perform dramatic acrobatic splashes and spectacular tail splashes. Other cetaceans that you may view on this expedition include Pacific bottlenose dolphins, spinner dolphins, spotted dolphins, false killer whales, and gray whales. Our staff is extremely knowledgeable about the marine life that inhabits the teeming habitat of Banderas Bay.
