Marietas Islands Scuba Adventure Overview
The world-famous oceanographer and undersea documentary film-maker, Jacques Cousteau, first made the world aware of the spectacular underwater environment surrounding the rocky islands of Las Marietas Island. Once Cousteau showed the diverse array of tropical fish, giant Pacific manta rays, and sea turtles in his televised documentary, scuba diving aficionados from all across the planet saw this place on television and began travelling to Puerto Vallarta to experience the world class scuba diving in person.
Tres Marietas are located only twenty two miles away from the docks of Marina Vallarta. This location is also optimal for mixed excursions of snorkeling and scuba diving since the shallowest reef at this marine preserve begins at a depth of only fifteen feet. This is also a challenging dive locale for advanced divers as well since depths descend to ninety feet. This area is a popular place for the giant Pacific manta rays to visit in order to be cleaned by smaller fish species. Be sure to ask our savvy dive masters to guide you to the location of these cleaning stations so you can witness these gigantic rays as they soar through the depths. The broad wingspan of these majestic creatures can reach an astonishing length of fourteen feet.
You will cruise out to this site on our motorized catamaran. Our English-speaking service-oriented staff we provide both breakfast and lunch for participants. Divers are provided a wet suit, BCC, regulator, weights, and two tanks. This is full day tour and is available for six days a week.
