Los Anegados Scuba Adventure Overview

This full day of diving excitement visits two of the best dive locales near Puerto Vallarta, Los Anegados and El Morro. This scuba expedition was specially designed with advanced divers who are looking for some variety on their dive trip. Because the El Morro site has swim-throughs and stronger currents, only divers who have logged a minimum of fifty dives can participate on the Los Anegados Scuba Adventure. This tour allows divers to enjoy a shallower dive above a teeming coral garden in the calmer waters of Banderas Bay (Los Anegados), as well as at a deep water site with plenty of interesting rock formations in the Pacific Ocean (El Morro).

Los Anegados, located within the boundaries of Bahia de Banderas, has a range of depths from thirty to eighty feet. The rock bank is an excellent place to explore for tropical fish. At the sea floor, you may see Giant Pacific Manta Rays sweeping into the area or Eels slithering from the rocks while hunting for small fish. Since this locale is within the borders of the bay, the visibility is good.

El Morro, out in the Pacific Ocean, is the more challenging dive due to the stronger currents and challenging underwater topography. Advanced divers will be intrigued by the varied volcanic structures at this site, including caves, tunnels, and a petrified forest of pinnacles. If you are seeking a challenge, you can swim through a tunnel one located 100 feet below the water’s surface.  Many of these breathtaking formations were formed by hot magma that cooled once it emerged from the Earth’s crust and contacted the Pacific waters.
