Las Caletas Whale Watching Adventure Overview
Have you imagined cruising through tropical waters to witness a mammoth whale breach the surface of the water in a dramatic display? This tour is your opportunity to view these amazing cetaceans in their native habitat. Join our welcoming crew for an exciting adventure to see humpback whales swimming through the placid waters of Banderas Bay. This exciting combination adventure also transports participants to the secluded cove at Las Caletas for an afternoon of fun outdoor activities.
Every winter, from December through March, humpback whales visit the warm sheltered waters of Banderas Bay. Thousands of whales migrate from the frigid northern waters like the Bering Sea to the warmer waters along the Pacific coastline of Mexico. Humpbacks are the most common whale species spotted in Banderas Bay, which is fortunate for whale watchers; humpback whales are some of the most active whales at the surface, performing impressive tail slaps, breaches, and full body splashes. You may even have the delightful experience of witnessing a mother whale with her newborn. Pregnant cow whales migrate to the warm sheltered waters of Banderas Bay to give birth.
After whale watching, this tour will then head to the southern side of Banderas Bay for an afternoon of fun activities at Las Caletas. Once the lavish estate of acclaimed film director, John Huston, this stretch of pristine beach on a beautiful cove offers plentiful activities to suit any taste. You can explore the cove by snorkeling or kayaking in its clear, placid waters. Some of the aquatic species that you can view while snorkeling include mantas, colorful exotic fish, and marine turtles. You can hike along a jungle trail to see our vibrant parrots. Learn to cook paella along the coast. Venture up to our hillside spa for some much needed pampering.
