Colomitos Snorkeling and Hiking Combo Overview
Join our English-fluent naturalists to go hiking along the south of Bahia de Banderas (Banderas Bay) for an exhilarating excursion in the secluded cove, Colomitos, where you can go snorkeling in crystal clear waters. This eco-friendly hiking and snorkeling combo tour is idyllic for nature enthusiasts; you’ll witness astounding sights in the lush jungle landscape as well as below the surface of the Colomitos Cove, where you can view a dazzling underwater world. Kids above the age of five will be excited to see the beauty of this natural wonderland in person; make sure you bring along the whole family on this fun-filled and enlightening expedition. The path to Colomitos is a single mile stroll through the wooded seaside low-lands, so the hike is effortless enough for practically everyone, even kids.
You’ll witness a remarkable variety of flora and fauna that thrives in the forestland beside Banderas Bay. Exotic plant-life like plumerias, wild orchids, palms, and ficuses supply shelter and food for plenty of native wildlife. You may see some of the mammals that live in this area, including armadillos, raccoons, skunks, and foxes. You may even spot one of the many varieties of lizards that call this area home, including chameleons and iguanas. You may be astonished to view a crab far from the shore; the Mountain Crab is a crustacean that spends most of its time inland. You may also see exotic insects like multicolored butterflies, huge dragon-flies, and termites building humongous nests. You may even be serenaded by a tropical songbird like the yellow-winged cacique.
As you approach your destination, the thick jungle growth will open up to reveal a splendid golden beach on the shores of a picturesque cove called Colomitos. Once you see the placid welcoming waters of this cove, you will not want to hesitate to wade in for some excellent snorkeling. You will view an exceptionally prismatic coral reef bustling with a fabulous variety of aquatic species including exotic fish such as sergeant majors puffers, morays, and varieties of angels. After our divemasters guide you to the best snorkeling locales in the cove, you can relax on the shore while eating a tasty light lunch; you won’t find a nicer backdrop to enjoy a meal.
